Jennifer Burns was born in Sydney Australia and studied Visual Arts at Sydney College of the Arts – Part of The University of Sydney, graduating with Honors in a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1990.
Her first major exhibition was held in Sydney at the Balmain Watch House where her work gained great acclaim and success. She has shown her work in galleries around Sydney and Canberra, then later in Canada.
Jennifer has traveled extensively, most notably to Africa, Canada (where she lived in the Rocky Mountains for four years) and presently resides in Florida. Her work reflects her love of travel and nature, each place she’s been can be seen in her detailed ink work and vibrant paintings.
She specialises in ink and pencil, particularly flora and fauna, with a particular love of the rustic which can be seen in the minute detail of her work, anything from brick walls to busy markets to deep, dark woods.
Her work can be seen in private collections around the world and in the permanent collection of the University of Technology, Sydney.
Throughout
her life her work has continued to grow and evolve as she travels and experiences
her surroundings. Each piece captures the beauty and wilderness of nature
or man made splendor of architecture. Some of her best work, her fence studies
for example, combine the two.
